St. Patrick's Day Parade!

Yes, I know I'm a little behind, but as they say...better late then never! We went to Detroit for their annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. It was the 50th anniversary and it was so fun. The weather held out for us and the kids even had a chance to run around without a coat when the sun came out.

I must tell you a funny story! This was the first time I have ever treated the kids to using a port-a-potty and it was an experience to remember. To set the stage, there is a row of about 20 port-a-potty's located behind a large Irish pub and it's the only bathroom facilities that you don't have to pay to use. That being said, the lines are very long and the majority of the people waiting in the lines are not thinking quite clearly (if you know what I mean). After tackling Nora's question of, "Why are these people acting like this?," we get into a bathroom. Nora can't go because it's too disgusting and Reed, well...he says, "yeah and someone even left their guts in here." Wondering and not thinking before I asked, "What are you talking about?" He points to a feminine product and says, "see, guts." Thankfully I've learned not to add words when the kids are not asking anything and I just quickly led them out and back to the parade events. While walking I had a nice chuckle to myself and thanked my lucky stars noone asked any more questions.
